KHANG AND VOLUNTEERING
Growing up in Vung Tau, a small city in Vietnam, I often saw homeless people and abandoned children sleeping on the streets. This made me realize that the disparity in financial knowledge between the rich and the poor is a root cause that perpetuates the cycle of debt and inequality. I believe that financial education can significantly contribute to building a more equitable society.
Although I was a math major who won second prize in the Vietnam Math Olympiad, one of the most prestigious competitions in the country, I developed a particular passion for Finance and Economics. I taught myself, designed simple lessons on personal finance, and voluntarily taught underprivileged children in my hometown. Later, I expanded this effort to disadvantaged children in Tanzania through online classes. However, I understand that my knowledge is still limited, and I am always eager to learn more.
Thao Love Class
Thao Love Class, established over 30 years ago by teacher Trần Đức Thảo in Vũng Tàu, has provided education to hundreds of underprivileged children, helping to eradicate illiteracy for those unable to attend regular schools. Currently, the class serves 40–60 students annually, teaching subjects like Mathematics, Vietnamese, History, and Geography. After discussions with Teacher Thảo about the importance of financial literacy combined with math, I began my involvement with the class during the summers of 2024 and 2025.

The Hope Relief and Orphans Village, Tanzania
While working on the Finance For You project, we launched a fundraising campaign for the WEEDO Project, an initiative supporting girls and women in Tanzania. Through this effort, I had the chance to connect with friends from The Hope Relief and Orphans Village. After learning more about the children’s circumstances and educational needs, we proposed a series of personal finance classes. These online sessions, held during the summers of 2024 and 2025, received remarkable interest and enthusiastic participation from the children.
